About me
Mr Ijaz Sheikh is a consultant ophthalmologist based at Surrey and Sussex NHS healthcare trust.
Mr Sheikh has over 30 years of experience in different subspecialties within ophthalmology. He offers consultations for all eye complaints including red eye, painful eye, dry eye, watery eye, blurry vision, floaters and flashing lights.
He is a comprehensively trained ophthalmologist with a special interest in cataract surgery in simple and complex cataracts.
His expertise includes fellowships in medical retina and eyelid diseases at world-renowned institutions.
Mr Sheikh is an expert in diseases of the diabetic retina, macular degeneration and advanced medical retina conditions.
He deals with blepharitis, dry eyes, watery eyes, eyelid lump and deformities.
He provides a prompt, patient-centred and customised service for all his patients, using the latest techniques and instruments for the highest professional standards.
Mr Sheikh has several international publications and presentations and is actively involved in the teaching and training of other ophthalmologists, optometrists and nurses.
He is currently engaged in developing Deep learning and Artificial intelligence-based diabetic retinopathy assessment in developing countries.
He is also an examiner for the royal college of ophthalmologists and royal college of surgeons of Glasgow
