About me
I am a Consultant Gynaecologist with over 15 years' experience, specialising in the the treatment and surgical management of a wide range of gynaecological conditions across different stages of life. I provide assessment and treatment for heavy or painful periods, pelvic pain, endometriosis, fibroids, ovarian cysts, prolapse, menopausal symptoms, fertility difficulties, and recurrent miscarriage. My practice focuses on minimally invasive gynaecological surgery, with the aim of achieving effective symptom control, safe recovery, and excellent long-term outcomes.
When planning treatment or surgery, I take a personalised and holistic approach, tailoring decisions to individual symptoms, priorities, and future plans. Where relevant, I give particular consideration to fertility preservation and future reproductive health, especially in conditions such as endometriosis, fibroids, and ovarian cysts. I am known for calm, unhurried consultations with clear explanations, and feedback consistently highlights a reassuring manner, feeling listened to, and confidence in the care provided.
I specialise in the assessment and treatment of a wide range of gynaecological conditions, including heavy or painful periods, pelvic pain, endometriosis, fibroids, ovarian cysts, fertility difficulties, recurrent miscarriage, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), postmenopausal bleeding, hormonal and menopause-related problems, postnatal gynaecological concerns, and womb prolapse using non-mesh techniques. I also provide urgent assessment and management for suspected gynaecological cancer.
My surgical practice is centred on minimally invasive gynaecological surgery wherever appropriate, with a strong focus on laparoscopic hysterectomy and both open and laparoscopic myomectomy, which form a substantial part of my workload. These approaches are chosen to achieve effective symptom control while supporting safe recovery and a timely return to normal activities. Where relevant, I give careful consideration to fertility preservation and future reproductive health, particularly when planning treatment for conditions such as fibroids, endometriosis, and ovarian cysts.
I have performed many thousands of gynaecological procedures during my career across both NHS and private practice. This includes a high volume of laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery, such as endometriosis surgery, ovarian cyst surgery, fertility-preserving fibroid surgery, hysteroscopic treatment of polyps and fibroids, MyoSure resections, surgery for blocked fallopian tubes, tubal reversal procedures, and vaginal, abdominal, and laparoscopic hysterectomy. My experience in fertility medicine allows me to plan surgery carefully to protect ovarian reserve and uterine health, particularly in women with fertility needs.
In addition to my clinical work, I am the gynaecological cancer lead at Harrogate Hospital and have been an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University. I am actively involved in teaching and training gynaecologists at both national and international level and supervise advanced surgical training through the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. I have published widely in medical journals and contributed to textbooks, particularly in the fields of minimally invasive surgery, fertility, and menstrual disorders. I am committed to maintaining high standards of care through ongoing education, research, and close collaboration with colleagues to ensure safe, evidence-based, and compassionate treatment.
