About me

Richard Lockyer was appointed to Southampton University Hospital on 1st May 2008. He qualified from The Royal London Hospital in 1993 and trained in Urology in London, Bristol and Southampton including a British Urological Foundation funded clinical visit to The Cleveland Clinic. His main interests are general urology, urological oncology and laparoscopy.

Richard is a partner in the South Coast Urology group. We believe in offering subspecialised urological care. Between the partners most areas of urology are covered and we always ensure that our patients see the most appropriate colleague.

Research interests

As lead for specialist registrar training in Wessex I have stepped back from research, but I am still able to recruit patients interested in various trials where appropriate. As a unit we take part in a wide number of trials relating to diagnosis and treatment of all urological conditions.

Personal interests

My wife and 2 children.
I enjoy sailing, cars and cycling!

Publications

I have several peer reviewed publications covering erectile dysfunction, stones, bladder & testicular cancer.

My most recent paper was written with my radiology colleagues on our excellent results for percutaneous cryoablation of small renal lesions. This was published in the British Journal of Urology in 2013
