About me
Dr Jonathan Timperley MB ChB MD FRCP FRAeS is a Consultant Cardiologist at Northampton General Hospital and Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. Dr Timperley is highly experienced in dealing with a range of cardiac disease including coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, arrhythmia, hypertension and cardiomyopathy. Dr Timperley also has a specific interest in aviation medicine. Dr Timperley regularly sees patients with a range of symptoms including chest pain, palpitations, shortness of breath and blackouts.
Dr Timperley studied medicine at University of Leeds where he obtained MB ChB in 1994. During a 20 year service in the Royal Air Force, Dr Timperley underwent junior training posts and then undertook specialist training at The Royal Brompton Hospital in London, Derriford Hospital in Plymouth and 6 years at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. .
Dr Timperley became a consultant in the Defence Medical Services in 2007 and has deployed to recent conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq, and was the Royal Air Force lead consultant cardiologist. In February 2008, Dr Timperley took up post as Consultant Cardiologist in the Northampton General Hospital where he is the lead cardiologist for the pacing and devices service. He is an expert in implantation of pacemakers, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (including subcutaneous ICDs) and biventricular devices for the treatment of heart failure. He is also an expert in complex echocardiography including stress echo, contrast echo, transoesophageal echo and 3D echo.
Dr Timperley is an active member of the British Society Of Echocardiography, British Cardiovascular Society and Heart Rhythm UK.
Dr Timperley is an Authorised Medical Examiner for the UK Civil Aviation Authority and is a member of the Association of Aviation Medical Examiners.
