Professional Profile
Mr Zaheer has extensive experience as an ophthalmologist. He graduated from King Edward Medical University, Lahore. After initial basic training at Mayo University Hospital he trained as Ophthalmology registrar at the Institute of Ophthalmology.
Mr Zaheer has completed subspecialty Fellowships in Glaucoma, Retinal diseases and Oculoplastics (Eyelid and Orbit).
He completed ‘Glaucoma Fellowship’ from Bristol Eye Hospital, gaining extensive training in surgical procedures such as Trabeculectomy with anti-metabolites, and latest laser treatment for glaucoma such as ‘Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty’.
He has further sub-specialized with ‘Fellowship in Oculoplastics’ (Eyelid surgery) from Bristol Eye Hospital with expertise in the management of eyelid and orbital conditions such as blepharoplasty, lid tumours as well as lacrimal surgery.
During his Fellowship in ‘Retinal diseases’ he gained expertise in management of retinal conditions such as ‘Age Related Macular Degeneration’ and ‘Diabetic retinal disease’
Mr Zaheer is actively involved in teaching and training. He is currently Clinical Tutor for The Royal College of Ophthalmologists and educational supervisor for Severn Deanery. He has presented his work internationally and published in peer-reviewed journals in the UK as well as in USA, Europe and Asia.
After his appointed as a Consultant in the NHS and serving in Scotland for a few years, he relocated to Wiltshire and currently serving as Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Great Western Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Swindon.
