She sees patients and performs and interprets investigations that record activity from the brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles. These include nerve conduction studies, electromyography (EMG), evoked potentials (EP) and electroencephalography (EEG). These investigations are used to aid diagnosis in various conditions affecting these parts of the nervous system.
Dr. Basu has deliverd several invited lectures to the learned societies. She teaches consultants, registrars, junior doctors, medical students, nurses and allied health professionals as well as being involved in physiologist training within the department.
