About me
I am an experienced oncoplastic breast surgeon, specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. I have been providing breast care service at Spire Norwich Hospital since 2005, where I undertake one-stop, follow-up, results, family history and reconstructive breast clinics.
I have performed thousands of breast operations over the years and I am highly experienced in performing breast surgery procedures, such as wide local excision of cancer, all types of mastectomy, including simple, skin sparing and nipple/areola sparing mastectomy. I am experienced in performing implant-based breast reconstruction with dermal flaps and Acellular Dermal Matrix (ADM) and latissimus dorsi flap reconstruction with or without an implants. With regards to breast conserving reconstruction, I am experienced in performing therapeutic mammoplasty with different techniques such as wise pattern and vertical scars. I am also very keen to preserve the breast if at all possible with partial breast reconstruction using MICAP (Crescent), LICAP and rotational flaps. I also perform delayed breast reconstruction with fat grafting and nipple reconstruction.
I am proud to chair the Breast Reconstruction Multidisciplinary Team meetings at Norfolk and Norwich University hospital since its start in 2015.
In addition to my clinical commitment, I am proud to serve as an honorary senior lecturer at University of East Anglia, Norwich. I have lead a number of research projects, which have resulted in a very respectable publications in the field of breast surgery. I have a major educational role at the Royal College of Edinburgh, where I am an examiner of the Intercollegiate Specialty Board in General Surgery. I am a member of the oral and MCQ question writing groups for general and breast surgery. I participate in teaching courses for under and postgraduate doctors at the Royal Colleges.
I am the course director and trainer for the some courses organised at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and recognised by Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. I promote research into breast disease by taking part in the peer review of scientific articles such as The Breast and European Journal of Surgical Oncology (EJSO). I routinely evaluate scientific literature for the clinical guideline sites.
