About me

Miss Nicola Mackay is a Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon with a dedicated subspecialist practice in knee surgery, treating both sports injuries and complex knee conditions. She is NHS-based at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire and the Hospital of St Cross in Rugby.

After completing UK orthopaedic training and gaining her FRCS (Tr&Orth), she undertook a highly regarded fellowship in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Surgery at the Fowler Kennedy Sports Medicine Clinic, a centre known for treating athletes and complex knee pathology. This training allowed her to work with leaders in their field which strengthened her focus on restoring knee stability, function, and long-term joint health.

Her areas of specialist interest include ACL and multi-ligament reconstruction, meniscal preservation (repair), patellofemoral instability, and knee preservation procedures such as high tibial osteotomy. She also offers total and partial knee replacement surgery including robotic-arm assisted surgery using Mako SmartRobotics�.

Miss Mackay has published widely in peer-reviewed journals and won national recognition for her work, including a prize at the British Association for Surgery of the Knee. She is also an Educational and Clinical Supervisor, actively involved in training surgeons and teaching medical students at Warwick Medical School.
