About me
Miss Francesca Ruccia is an Internationally-renowned Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeon, with an NHS and Private Practice at The Royal Marsden. She provides specialist care across the Chelsea and Sutton sites.
She is the first female plastic surgeon appointed to the department, recognised for her expertise and her pioneering contributions to the field. A recognised pioneer in robotic microsurgery, her practice integrates precision, innovation and a sustained commitment to high-quality, patient-centred outcomes.
Miss Ruccia leads the Bilateral Risk-Reducing Autologous Breast Reconstruction Programme, one of the few dedicated services of its kind in the country, offering highly individualised reconstructive pathways for patients with elevated genetic risk. She also directs the Royal Marsden Microsurgery Fellowship Programme, contributing to the training of future reconstructive surgeons and the continuous development of microsurgical standards within the department.
Renowned in the UK and internationally for her microsurgical expertise, Miss Ruccia specialises in autologous breast reconstruction, complex perineal, gynaecological and oncological reconstruction, and advanced skin cancer surgery. Her clinical work spans immediate and delayed breast reconstruction, complex soft-tissue reconstruction and the management of challenging oncological defects, with a focus on safety, functional restoration and long-term quality of life.
In her private practice at The Royal Marsden, Miss Ruccia offers comprehensive reconstructive care, following the latest research and science-backed treatments. She is actively involved in clinical research, surgical education and multidisciplinary innovation. She has published academic papers in high impact journals and has been invited to speak internationally.
She offers multilingual consultations in English, Italian and French, helping patients feel comfortable, understood and confident from the very first appointment.
