About me
Mr Kaykhosrov Manuchehri is a consultant ophthalmologist based in Harpenden and Wexham near Slough. He has a special interest in cataract surgery as well as vitreo-retinal diseases and vitreo-retinal surgery, treating conditions such as retinal detachment, macular degeneration (both age related and non-age related), macular holes and epiretinal membranes. He is an expert in treating cataracts, including replacing them with multifocal and toric intra-ocular lens (IOL) implants to give spectacle independence.
He is also keen on improving the outcomes of cataracts surgery in patients who have already had their cataract operation and have not achieved an outcome which they wished for after surgery. This includes fine tuning surgeries to reduce astigmatism or converting monofocal intra-ocular lens implants to multifocal intra-ocular lens implants to achieve relative spectacle freedom. He has written research papers during his training on various aspects of glaucoma and has treated patients by both laser and surgery for this condition. Mr Manuchehri keeps a continuous audit of all his surgical and laser results and has so far achieved results well above the UK National outcomes.
Mr Manuchehri qualified from Trinity College Medical School, Dublin with honours in surgery. He then trained in ophthalmology in the UK, completing his higher surgical training on the West Midlands rotation. He undertook three fellowships in vitreo-retinal surgery and medical retina at the Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre, Oxford Eye Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.
With expertise in treating a wide range of eye conditions, Mr Manuchehri strives to deliver the highest level of patient care. He is a member of various leading organisations in his field, including the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the United Kingdom and Ireland Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (UKISCRS) and the British and Eire Association of Vitreo-retinal surgeons (BEAVRS). He is keen to be more involved in developing the ophthalmic services of developing countries.
