About me
Mr. Akbari is a Consultant Surgeon at University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire (UHCW), specializing in General and Upper Gastrointestinal (UGI) Surgery. His expertise lies in minimally invasive and robotic techniques for oesophageal and gastric cancer, primary and revisional bariatric surgery, and a broad spectrum of benign UGI and general surgical conditions.
After completing his higher surgical training at the renowned Oxford UGI Specialist Centre, Mr. Akbari was awarded the UK's first Royal College of Surgeons-approved fellowship in robotic UGI surgery. He subsequently served as a consultant in high-volume centers in Oxford and Birmingham, where he gained extensive experience in advanced UGI and bariatric procedures.
Since joining UHCW in 2023, Mr. Akbari has pioneered the hospital's robotic bariatric program and introduced state-of-the-art minimally invasive oesophagectomy and gastrectomy services. He also performs fully robotic cancer resections, focusing on enhancing patient outcomes through precision and innovation.
