About me
Mr Ian Sharpe graduated from St Marys Hospital, London in 1991 and completed his general surgical and orthopaedic training in the South West of England. He undertook Fellowships in Sydney and Seattle and gained his FRCS(Tr&Orth) accreditation in 2001, and was appointed a consultant at the Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Centre in Exeter in 2003. He established the Foot and Ankle unit - which has now grown to include six consultants - and was the first Clinical Lead for the team from 20014 -21. He was Clinical Lead for Trauma from 2006-10, Clinical Director of the orthopaedic Centre from 2014-18. He was member of the BOFAS education committee 2017 � 2021. He now sits on the BOFAS Advisory Committee which oversees Ankle arthritis networks (BOAST/GIRFT) and ODEP development for Ankle Arthroplasty.
He sits on the European Advisory Board for Ankle Replacements (Stryker) and was an Associate Editor of �The Foot� journal from 2022-2026 .
He has established an internationally recognised ankle replacement primary and revision unit, including use of 3-D printed cages and total talar replacements and has published on the subject. The unit has a well established Fellowship programme.
