About me
I have been a Consultant ENT Surgeon at The Royal Surrey County Hospital since 2002, specialising in ear surgery & the treatment of balance disorders, hearing loss & tinnitus. I have a busy practice at The Guildford Nuffield Hospital where I have two to three clinics a week treating both adults & children with either general ENT issues or more complex issues related to their ears, vertigo or balance. Most ENT conditions can be resolved in out-patients without the need for surgery.
I carry out major ear operations every week including repairing tympanic membrane perforations with cartilage (tympanoplasty), managing cholesteatoma & chronically infected ears (combined approach tympanoplasty) and hearing reconstruction (ossiculoplasty & KTP laser stapedectomy). I offer intratympanic steroid injection therapy for the management of sudden sensorineural hearing loss. I also routinely perform tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy & grommet insertion and carry out fibre-optic examinations of the voice box & throat in clinic.
I provide a structured approach to patients who are suffering from vertigo & dizziness and have access to private balance testing & vestibular rehabilitation services. I can offer both medical & surgical therapies for BPPV & Meniere's disease and medical treatments for vestibular migraine, dizziness, imbalance & PPPD. I try & provide a detailed explanation to help patients understand what has happened to them and what can be done to improve their symptoms.
After completing my undergraduate training at The Middlesex Hospital, my specialist ENT training was carried out in major London teaching hospitals including the Royal National Throat, Nose & Ear Hospital & The National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery. In 2001, I was awarded the prestigious Graham Fraser Foundation Fellowship to complete my otology training in Sydney, Australia where I developed an interest in the treatment of Meniere's disease and revision mastoid surgery. I offer over 35 years of medical experience having qualified in 1990.
I have been Honorary Secretary for The Section of Otology of The Royal Society of Medicine & have been on The Council of The British Society of Otology. I have also been President of the British Balance Network. I have enjoyed teaching ear surgery on courses in London, Cambridge and Manchester & travelling to Mekele in Northern Ethiopia to train ENT surgeons on the Global ENT Outreach education programme.
