About me

Mr Giffen is a registered Specialist Oral Surgeon with experience in complex wisdom tooth surgery, dental implants, cysts, benign lesions of the jaws, surgical tooth removal, oral medicine (red and white patches, lumps and bumps, oral mucosal disease), salivary gland disorders (the management of dry mouth, salivary gland stones and infection) and facial pain including Trigeminal Neuralgia.

He works collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, managing complex cases including patients undergoing head and neck cancer treatment, while also supporting specialties such as Haem-oncology, Orthopaedics, and Rheumatology.

His dental undergraduate training was completed at The University of Glasgow and he undertook specialist training within the highly respected NHS and Military oral and maxillofacial surgery unit at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth. He was appointed Consultant of the unit in 2018.

He gained membership of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 2009. On completion of specialist training he was recognised with Membership in Oral Surgery at the Royal College of England in 2014 and appointed Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2018.

Currently Mr Giffen is the NHS Consultant and Clinical Lead for Oral Surgery at Hereford County Hospital.
