About me
Dr Shereef Elmoamly is a highly esteemed consultant haematologist who brings a wealth of expertise from his postgraduate specialty training in the West Midlands Deanery and a clinical fellowship at Manchester Royal Infirmary.
His research background includes an MD in hemato-oncology and venous thromboembolism, contributing to his specialisation and leadership in complex haematological care. In his role as the chemotherapy lead for the Dudley Group NHS Trust, Dr Elmoamly's expertise spans general haematology, malignant haematology, and venous thrombosis. At the hospital's Georgina Unit, he manages a substantial patient load, seeing approximately 6070 outpatients and 1520 inpatients weekly.
His patients present with a wide range of conditions, including blood cancers, anaemia, clotting disorders, bleeding tendencies, and cases requiring bone marrow transplants. In addition to patient care, he oversees the haematology laboratory, analyzing blood films and bone marrow aspirates to aid in accurate diagnoses.
Dr Elmoamly is also active in clinical research, particularly within haemato-oncology. As a principal investigator or co-investigator, he contributes to multiple clinical trials, enhancing the institution's commitment to advancing treatments for haematological conditions. His work is widely recognized in the field, with numerous publications in respected peer-reviewed medical journals. He is a member of the British society of haematology task force involved in the development of guidelines, and also regularly shares his experience in the regional haematology multidisciplinary team meeting.
