About me
Professional profile:
My speciality is Gastroenterology and I see conditions relating to both the upper and lower the gastrointestinal tract. Commonly the symptoms I see include indigestion, heartburn, iron deficiency anaemia, weight loss, abdominal pain, diarrhoea and rectal bleeding. My expertise and training is in endoscopy including gastroscopy, endoscopic ultrasound and colonoscopy and my research and particular interest is in oesophageal cancer and its development.
As a follow on from this I set up Red Dolphin - an organisation to increase awareness of oesophageal conditions amongst the public and professionals alike. Please do visit at www.reddolphin.org and see what it is all about.
I graduated from Bristol University, served in the Royal Army Medical Corps from 1990-97, and then completed my training and research within Wessex before being appointed to a substantive consultant post in Southampton in 2004. I consult both in the NHS and privately and see referrals from both GPs and consultant colleagues.
