About me

I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with over 30 years' experience specialising in knee and ankle injuries, cartilage restoration, ligament reconstruction and complex lower?limb instability.

I became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1992 and later completed the intercollegiate examination in orthopaedic surgery, joining the UK Specialist Register in 2000.

During a two?year fellowship focused on sports and trauma injuries, I developed specialist expertise in cartilage transplantation, arthroscopic surgery and ligament reconstruction of the knee and ankle. I was also involved in pioneering early research converting stem cells into cartilage cells for re?implantation, which I lectured on widely across Europe and Scandinavia.

In 2002, I joined the Northallerton NHS Trust, providing specialist knee and ankle care for military personnel across the Catterick Garrison region, the largest infantry base in Europe. I also worked with several professional football clubs, including Middlesbrough FC, Sunderland FC, Hartlepool United, Darlington FC and Carlisle United.

Today, I focus on managing complex knee and ankle instability, cartilage loss and early arthritis�particularly in patients who are young, active or not yet suitable for joint replacement.
