He was awarded a highly competitive international fellowship to train at the world-renowned San Raffaele Hospital, in Milan, Italy, which gave him invaluable training in pioneering interventional cardiology techniques.
His PhD, awarded from the National Heart and Lung Institute (Imperial College London), involved the creation of engineered heart tissue from induced pluripotent stem cell derived cardiomyocytes. His work resulted in several awards and prizes and received coverage in both national and international media outlets.
