About me
Jonathan is a highly trained Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip and knee conditions with fellowship training in both the UK and internationally. He focuses on helping patients return to an active, pain-free lifestyle through personalised, evidence-based care.
He treats the full range of hip and knee problems from sports injuries and joint pain to advanced arthritis requiring joint replacement surgery. Jonathan works closely with every patient to understand their goals and tailor treatment plans to achieve the best possible outcome.
His expertise includes:
- Hip and knee replacement surgery, including complex revision procedures
- Partial knee replacements
- Sports knee injuries and arthroscopic (keyhole) knee surgery
- Patella (kneecap) instability
- Joint-preserving surgery for younger, active patients
- Treatment of fractures and trauma affecting the hip and lower limb
Jonathan is committed to improving recovery after surgery and uses enhanced recovery techniques to help patients regain mobility quickly, reduce pain, and return to their normal activities as soon as possible.
Jonathan studied Medicine at University of Cambridge and University of Oxford, graduating in 2006. He then served as a medical officer in the Royal Army Medical Corps, including deployment as a trauma surgeon in Afghanistan where he gained extensive experience treating complex injuries.
After completing his orthopaedic training in 2019, Jonathan undertook advanced specialist fellowships in hip and knee surgery. He was awarded the International Stryker Fellowship at North Shore Hospital in Auckland, New Zealand, followed by a Hip and Knee Reconstruction Fellowship at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore, one of the UK's leading centres for complex joint surgery.
Jonathan is actively involved in research and education. He has published numerous studies in peer-reviewed orthopaedic journals, including important research on reducing infection after joint replacement surgery, and regularly presents his work at national and international conferences. He is also passionate about training future surgeons and runs specialist teaching courses on complex fracture management.
