About me

Clinical Interests:

Jonathan is both a UK and international fellowship-trained consultant orthopaedic surgeon whose special interests include hip and knee surgery and lower limb trauma. His focus is on getting the best outcomes for each patient and therefore uses a patient-centredand evidence based approach that tailors any treatment to that individual.

He treats all surgical hip and knee conditions from simple sports injuries to joint replacement to complex revision surgery. His clinical interests include: joint preservation surgery in young active patients, arthroscopic management of sports knee injuries, patella instability, partial knee replacements, primary and revision hip and knee replacements and trauma/fractures. Jonathan is always looking for ways he can improve patients outcomes through the enhanced recovery surgery program.

Academic:

Jonathan studied Medicine at Cambridge and Oxford Universities graduating in 2006 before being awarded a commission in the Royal Army Medical Corps - this included a tour of duty as a trauma surgeon in Afghanistan. He left to pursue his orthopaedic career. After completing his training in 2019, he was awarded an International Stryker Fellowship to North Shore Hospital, Auckland to continue his training in Hip and Knee Surgery. This was followed by the Hip and Knee Reconstruction Fellowship at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore.

Jonathan has a keen interest in research and teaching. He has published widely in a number of peer-reviewed orthopaedic journals on hip, knee and trauma surgery including key papers on preventing infection in joint replacement surgery. Jonathan has presented his work nationally and internationally. He continues to enjoy teaching the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons and runs a course on peri-prosthetic fracture management.
