About me

I have a specific clinical interest in minimally-invasive HPB surgery, having developed an almost completely laparoscopic or robotic practice as a consultant. I have performed over 100 robotic HPB operations since the start of the robotic HPB programme in 2021, and in 2022 over 90% of operations undertaken were completed minimally invasively. I have also developed, with colleagues, a percutaneous approach to difficult-to-manage gallstones.

I graduated from the Royal Free Campus of the Royal Free and University College Medical School, Univ of London, in 2003. After initial basic surgical training in North London, I undertook a period of research at the Institute of Cancer Research and was awarded my PhD in Medicine (tumour biology) in 2013. My Higher Surgical Training was within the North West Thames deanery and included subspecialist HPB training at the Royal Marsden, Hammersmith and Royal Surrey hospitals. He went on to a post-CCT fellowship in Surgical Oncology at the Royal Marsden prior to being appointed as a locum consultant at the Royal Surrey in 2018, becoming substantive in 2019.

As a result of my training at all levels in the Sarcoma and Rare Tumours unit I also have an interest in both benign and malignant soft-tissue lesions, including triage and initial assessment. I have published a number of papers across the fields of HPB and soft-tissue surgery, and retain an active role in clinical research.
