About me

I am a consultant general and upper gastrointestinal surgeon with over 20 years experience delivering patient-centred clinical and surgical care. I aim to combine clinical excellence with a compassionate approach, ensuring every person I treat feels informed, supported, and confident throughout their treatment journey.

Weight loss
I have a passion for and extensive clinical experience of supporting and treating people living with obesity. I offer an expert person centred opinion and treatment with both obesity medicines and surgery.
I have extensive experience of primary weight loss surgery with gastric bypass, gastric sleeve and gastric banding procedures as well as revision surgery for people who have had previous weight loss surgery who have experienced post operative problems or complication arising form this surgery. My weight management practice is grounded in the belief that effective obesity care requires a compassionate, multidisciplinary approach including psychologist and dietetic colleagues.

Anti reflux and hiatus hernia surgery.
I have a specific interest in treatment of reflux disease and hiatus hernia. I offer surgical treatments including fundoplication, Linx and hiatus hernia repair. I am also able to offer the RefluxStop anti reflux procedure recently introduced into clinical practice in the UK in collaboration with my surgical colleague Fergus Noble.

Hernia and gallbladder problems
I offer both laparoscopic and open hernia surgery as well as treatment of gallbladder and gallstone problems

Complex referrals
I am also a member of the clinical team at GI choice(www.gichoice.co.uk), a team of expert specialists in private practice at the Spire and NHS practice at university Hospital Southampton. The collaborative approach and clinical expertise at GI choice enables assessment and treatment for people with particularly complex gastrointestinal surgical and medical clinical problems.
