About me
Essence of my practice:
I aim to relieve symptoms, restore function, and avoid complications using my acquired clinical and surgical skills, experience and evidence based practice.
My additional key aims are to keep my patients as informed and aware as possible of their condition, the treatment options and the benefits and risks of these options. Therefore skill, expertise, knowledge and communication with individual patients is paramount.
I have a proven track record as a diagnostician and observer of clinical practice and trends, thereby providing as up to date a service to my patients as possible.
Brief biography:
I was born and schooled in London, then went to Birmingham Medical School. After graduating, I worked in Birmingham and Worcester, before spending a year in the Trauma Unit at Groote Schuur Hospital, Cape Town 1994-5. I completed my higher surgical training in Orthopaedics and Trauma on the Oxford Programme in 2001, working for some of the leading lights in orthopaedic and trauma surgery in the UK. In my final training year I was an Orthopaedic Trauma Fellow at Vancouver General Hospital / University of British Columbia. I was appointed as a consultant in Swindon in July 2001, and have been developing my practice since then.
Key specialised interests:
Knee surgery is my principal subspecialty, and I undertake a comprehensive range of soft tissue and arthroplasty knee surgery. I have a specific interest and expertise in unicompartmental replacements, revision arthroplasty and knee sports injuries, using arthroscopic (keyhole surgery) techniques.
I am an experienced traumatologist in particular surgery of multiple injuries, surgery of complex lower limb peri-articular and long bone fractures.
