About me
Mr Simon Dexter is a highly experienced Consultant Upper Gastrointestinal (GI) and Bariatric Surgeon who places patient safety and quality of life at the centre of his practice. With over three decades of experience in laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgery, he is recognised nationally for his expertise in weight loss surgery, oesophago-gastric procedures and advanced keyhole techniques.
Mr Dexter has played a significant role in shaping the development of laparoscopic surgery in the UK. He was the UK's first laparoscopic surgery research fellow and has maintained a leading position in upper GI and bariatric surgery ever since.
Mr Dexter is one of the UK's most experienced bariatric surgeons, having performed over 1,000 laparoscopic weight loss procedures, including:
- Gastric bypass
- Sleeve gastrectomy
- Gastric banding
- Duodenal switch
His complication rates for bariatric surgery are among the lowest in the UK, reflecting meticulous surgical planning, attention to detail and a strong commitment to patient safety.
