About me
I am a Consultant General and Upper GI Surgeon and specialise in the treatment of gallstones, heartburn, hernias, swallowing difficulties and oesophageal & gastric cancer. I perform laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery for gallstones, reflux disease (heartburn), groin and abdominal wall hernias, achalasia, weight loss surgery and cancer.
I trained at Leeds University, and completed advanced surgical training in Leeds, Sheffield and Adelaide, Australia. I returned to the UK and was appointed as a consultant in 2019.
I believe in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. I have a particular interest in improving how we deliver care to provide a better patient-experience and outcome. My work on this has been recognised by the NHS Leadership Academy. Safe surgery, and quality-of-life after surgery are my guiding principles.
I have published over 45 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and have presented my work nationally and internationally. I am actively involved in a number of large national trials to improve patient care.
I look forward to meeting you to discuss your care. I will take the time to discuss different treatments and help you to make the choices best suited to your individual needs.
