About me

Dr Matteo is an experienced consultant in sport & musculoskeletal medicine. He is an expert in problems affecting the musculoskeletal system, and his specialist interest is in complex bone, muscle, tendon & joint pain of unknown cause. He is passionate about treating complex musculoskeletal problems, such as back, neck, shoulder and jaw pain (temporomandibular dysfunction).

He is the only dual-trained sport medicine consultant and osteopath (i.e. DO) in the UK, ensuring his unique approach to treatment is truly integrated, functional and holistic. His approach combines the best of traditional, complementary and regenerative medicine, where he uses shockwave therapy and cutting-edge orthobiologic treatments such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or prolotherapy to treat chronic pain and arthritis.

Dr Matteo is a consultant at University College London Hospitals (UCLH) and clinical lead for the department of musculoskeletal medicine at the Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine (RLHIM) on Queen Square. In addition to his NHS and private work, he is academy doctor at Fulham FC and medical officer for England Boxing.

He is passionate about teaching, and he is the Training Programme Director for Sport & Exercise Medicine in London. He is also honorary lecturer and examiner at University College London (UCL) Medical School, and sits on the examination committee at the Faculty of Sport & Exercise Medicine (FSEM) in Edinburgh.

Commitment to good care:

Whether you are suffering from longstanding musculoskeletal pain or sustained a new sporting injury, Dr Matteo is committed to give you the best medical advice and treatment to help you recover back to health. He believes in a thorough and holistic approach to treatment, addressing all the physical, biomechanical, nutritional and lifestyle factors that contributed to your condition.

On your journey you will be supported to achieve your personal health goals, such as improving pain and returning to your favourite sport. Your path back to health will start at the initial consultation with a personalised plan to address all your needs.
