About me
Dr Thivi Maruthappu is a UK Trained Consultant Dermatologist. She studied Medicine at Oxford University and Imperial College London, then completed her Dermatology training at several prestigious teaching hospitals in London. She is the first dual-qualified Dermatologist and Nutritionist in the UK and lectures widely on the topic.
In 2018, she was appointed as a Consultant Dermatologist at the Royal London Hospital and was Lead for Severe Eczema and Psoriasis for several years.
She has over a decade of experience in Dermatology and consults on all aspects of adult dermatology with a particular interest in Psoriasis, Eczema, Acne and Rosacea.
An accomplished academic, Thivi has completed a highly competitive MRC-funded PhD and a Fellowship in Medical Dermatology (severe eczema & psoriasis) at the renowned St John’s Institute of Dermatology, in addition to a Certificate in Nutrition Science from Stanford Medical School, USA.
This training has led her to adopt an empathetic and holistic approach, considering aspects of nutrition and lifestyle that can contribute to skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, hair loss and acne.
She is the recipient of over 15 national and international awards, scholarships and prizes including the Whimster Prize (2014-2017) from the British Association of Dermatologists and the Hugh Wallace Essay Prize from the Royal Society of Medicine for academic publications.
She is regularly featured in the media including BBC Radio, the Sunday Times, and the Daily Mail amongst others.
She is a Member of the British Association of Dermatologists, Nutrition Society and Royal Society of Medicine.
