About me
Mr. Swamy is a Consultant Spinal surgeon at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Trust. After his Orthopaedic and Spinal training in Nottingham and Derby, he has done several national and international fellowships in complex spinal surgery at Utrecht Medical Centre [Holland], Royal National Orthopaedic hospital [London], Norwich University hospitals, and travelling fellowships at Johns Hopkins University [Baltimore] and Queen Mary hospital, Hong Kong.
Mr. Swamy treats patients will all forms of spinal conditions affecting the cervical, thoracic, lumbar and sacral spine. This includes degenerative spinal problems [disc protrusions, spinal stenosis], spinal fractures, spinal infections, secondary spinal tumours and spinal deformities [scoliosis and kyphosis] in both children and adults. He has a special interest in complex surgeries with a particular focus on revision (redo) spinal surgeries and deformities.
Mr. Swamy is regularly invited to be on the faculty of esteemed national and international spinal meetings, and teaching courses. He holds honorary academic positions in several overseas Universities.
Mr. Swamy has a keen research interest and has published extensively with over 30 peer reviewed publications and book chapters. He reviews articles for several Orthopaedic and spinal journals, and is actively involved in high impact research studies both nationally and internationally.
Mr. Swamy is actively involved in teaching and training Orthopaedic and spinal registrars on the East Anglia Orthopaedic rotation. He is a regular faculty member on several FRCS preparation courses. He coordinates the senior Norwich spinal fellowship, training senior spinal surgeons for future consultant positions. Mr. Swamy has several other interests outside of spine surgery. He does regular charity work in India and Nepal. He enjoys playing the Indian bamboo flute and is a keen cricketer. He plays in the Norfolk division cricket league as a wicket keeper, batsman and is involved in coaching young cricketers.
