About me
Mr Gans Thiagamoorthy, is a Consultant Gynaecologist and the Lead Urogynaecologist at St. Peter's NHS Hospital and receives referrals from other gynaecologists from the surrounding hospitals. Gans grew up in Surrey, gained his medical degree from St. George's Hospital Medical School and was subspecialty trained in Urogynaecology in King's College, London.
With 18 years experience as a Gynaecologist, Gans served as the Information committee Chair of the British Society of Urogynaecologists and is a member of the International Continence Society, International Urogynaecological Association and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
Gans treats all gynaecological problems such as issues with menstrual bleeding, postmenopausal bleeding and menopause and specialises in caring for women who have concerns regarding possible prolapse, all forms of urinary difficulty from persistent or recurrent cystitis to frequent passing of water or urinary incontinence, post birth difficulties, painful sexual intercourse and menstrual problems.
Gans has a holistic approach to women's health and strongly believes that non-surgical therapy should always be offered first. However, when other treatment options are required, he is also capable of offering medical and surgical therapies and explaining the benefits and negatives of these with up to date evidence so that his clients can decide on which options suits their needs best. Gans endeavours to make treatments as least invasive to the lady's life as possible and can offer small yet effective procedures which can be conducted in an outpatient setting to more complex procedures requiring day or overnight admission.
Having conducted research focusing on quality of life and improving the care pathways for women, Gans has presented nationally and internationally as well as being widely published in journals and textbooks. He is proud to continue promoting education regarding women's health there and is the specialty lead for undergraduate education of St. George's, University of London and now University of Surrey medical students.
