About me

Dr. Sami is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Honorary Associate Professor. He undertook training and clinical practice at some of the best hospitals in the world such as Mayo Clinic, Rochester, USA. The latter has been offically ranked as #1 hospital in the world by independant vetting organisations including the Board of Global Experts (an independent panel of leaders and researchers in the field of healthcare who aim to identify institutions with excellence in care). Dr Sami also practiced at UK centres of excellence such as University College London (UCL) and University College London Hospitals NHS Trust. The UCL Faculty of Medical Sciences is ranked #1 in London for Medicine and #10 in the world.

Sarmed undertook prestigious fellowships both in the UK and the USA including a dedicated advanced GI fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN and at the NIHR Nottingham Digestive Diseases Centre, Nottingham, UK.

He is the founder and director of Digestive Health UK. A leading private clinic in central London with a multidisciplinary group of experts and key opinion leaders in the field of Gastroenterology and endoscopy. He has been rated as one of the top 5 Gastroenterologists in London according to Doctify.com verified patient reviews website. He sees patients at the HCA Londn Digestive Centre and Mayo Clinic Healthcare both in central London.

He has an exemplary track record in research, education and clinical care for patients. He completed a National Endoscopy Research Fellowship which lead to the award of a PhD. Since receiving his Post Graduate Certificate in Medical Education, has undertaken multiple teaching roles in undergraduate and postgraduate capabilities, as well as serving as a faculty member and speaker on several national and international courses and workshops.

Sarmed is proud to be the recipient of several prestigious awards including: the Cook Medical Marsha Dreyer award from the American Society for GI Endoscopy (ASGE); the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) out of programme award; and more recently, the Fellows-in-training award from the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG). He is also the lead author and co-author of over 50 high impact peer-reviewed publications and research abstracts in the field of Gastroenterology including the current UK guidelines on oesophageal dilatation and eosinophilic oesophagitis (EoE).
