About me

Mr Park is a double board-certified, fellowship trained Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon and the Lead Vitreoretinal Surgeon at the University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust. He is also an Honorary Consultant Surgeon at the Birmingham & Midland Eye Centre, and an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the University of Warwick. He is currently on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register with the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Ophthalmology.
Mr Park studied Medicine at St Andrews University Medical School and the University of Manchester; graduated with BSc (Med Sci) in 2003, followed by MB ChB in 2006. As a medical student at Manchester University, he was awarded the prestigious Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health Medical Student Prize.
His House Officerships were served at the University Hospitals in Birmingham and this was followed by run-through specialty training in Ophthalmology at the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, the #1 eye hospital in the UK (Newsweek, The World's Best Hospitals 2019).
After the Completion of Specialist Training (CCT) in Ophthalmology, he became a Fellow of both the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth) and the European Board of Ophthalmology (FEBO) in 2015.
Mr Park then completed additional 3 years of formal sub-specialty fellowship training with advanced post-CCT Vitreoretinal Surgery Fellowships at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust and Imperial College London Healthcare NHS Trust.
Mr Park is known for his surgical expertise and for providing patients with safe, effective, and minimally invasive treatment for comprehensive eye conditions. His surgical expertise encompasses all aspects of Cataract and Retinal surgery, and he was the first UK surgeon to successfully use Air tamponade routinely for Retinal Detachment repairs with vitrectomy. His areas of interest also include Complex cataracts & secondary lens implant complications; Vitreoretinal surgery for macular conditions like Macular holes or Epiretinal membrane, and the surgical management of floaters.
Mr Park is a keen educator and researcher, and he is currently an Honorary Clinical Lecturer & a Clinical Tutor at the Warwick Medical School, University of Warwick. He is heavily involved in teaching for Medical students, Ophthalmology trainees & Optometrists, and he is a trainer for cataract and vitreoretinal surgery. Mr Park is also a peer-reviewer for the Journal of Cataract & Refractive Surgery, has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and given numerous national and international presentations.
