About me

Mr Mohamed Elalfy is a highly qualified consultant ophthalmic surgeon in the UK with international specialised experience in ophthalmic surgery having over 15 years experience. With practising privileges at The McIndoe Centre and Nuffield Health Tunbridge Wells, his areas of expertise include cataracts, laser eye surgery, refractive surgery, ocular surface and the cornea.

Mr Elalfy graduated from Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt in 2003, before training as an ophthalmic surgeon in the UK. In the UK, he trained at various institutions such as the University of Nottingham and The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He became a fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in 2008 and is now on the trustee board. He is also the regional college representative for the South East Thames area.

Alongside his private practice, Mr Elalfy holds posts as a Consultant Ophthalmologist both at Queen Victoria Hospital and Eye Bank NHS Trust and Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.

He was an assistant professor of ophthalmology at the University of Nottingham from 2014 to 2015 and has published more than 30 peer-reviewed publications, some of which can be found in ResearchGate and the British Journal of Ophthalmology. He continues to train fellows both in the UK and overseas and is regularly invited to international meetings to talk and give courses.
