About me
Having qualified from Imperial College London in 2008 and embarking on the South London and Kent/Surrey/Sussex Urology rotation for my registrar training, I undertook specialist training at the renowned Frimley Benign Prostate Clinical Research Centre. I am an expert in Men’s health and Prostatic disease including Benign Prostatic Enlargement and bothersome urinary symptoms (e.g. poor flow, frequency and urgency), including prostatitis as well as Prostate cancer. Undertaking high volumes of prostate surgery, including Holmium Laser Enucleation of Prostate – HOLEP, bipolar Transurethral Resection of Prostate – biTURP, MRI fusion transperineal prostate biopsies as well as prostatic urethral lift (‘Urolift’), has led me to mentoring colleagues in other hospitals across the country. A large part of my practice also includes general Urology, incorporating conditions of the penis and scrotum, female urinary symptoms and recurrent urinary tract infections.
As the joint lead for Prostate diagnostics at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH), I understand the importance of a personalised approach, using the most up to date techniques to improve diagnostic and therapeutic accuracy. Having fully explored your concerns, I will provide evidence based advice and recommendations to address these, ultimately with a view to greatly improving your quality of life.
My work in the field of prostate diagnostics and treatments has also been presented and published at international conferences including the introduction of a novel approach to prostate biopsies for the investigation of prostate cancer. This has resulted in me being appointed as a Prostate Cancer UK Clinical Champion for my desire and ability to improve the way we diagnose and treat Prostate cancer.
I have been awarded a PGCert in Healthcare Leadership and an MBA, both with distinctions and I am the Leadership Tutor at the NNUH and founding member of the undergraduate Leadership team at the University of East Anglia (UEA), providing the next generation of doctors the skills to make positive change. I hold the post of Honorary Associate Professor at UEA for my contribution to medical student teaching.
I am married to Sophie, a Paediatric Nurse Practitioner and have 3 young boys that keep me busy! In any free time that I have I am slowly renovating our clay lump house and have completed my private pilots licence.
