About me
Dr Ruchit Sood is a private Consultant Gastroenterologist at the Leeds Nuffield Hospital, Leeds Spire Hospital, and an NHS Consultant Gastroenterologist at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. His expertise is in all areas related to the gullet, stomach, bowel and liver.
He qualified from the University of Sheffield and then moved to Leeds to pursue his gastroenterology training, during which time he completed an advanced interventional endoscopy fellowship at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. He was awarded a Doctorate in Medicine (MD) research degree from the University of Leeds for his contribution towards work in differentiating irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) from other bowel disorders such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). In 2019, he was elected as a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians.
His particular expertise is in the assessment and endoscopic treatment of non-cancerous and cancerous lesions involving the gullet, stomach and bowel, as well as in the treatment of IBD and IBS.
He is a National accredited Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (BCSP) colonoscopist and is the Clinical Lead for the BCSP in Leeds.
He is also the Clinical Lead for Gastrointestinal Bleed Service delivery at Leeds Teaching Hospitals, and Governance Lead for the Gastroenterology department.
Dr Sood is passionate about teaching and is involved in the training of gastroenterologists and surgeons at regional, national and international conferences and workshops. He has designed and run several endoscopy and gastroenterology workshops in the UK and abroad.
