About me

Mr Sumit Kar was appointed as a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist in 2013 at Surrey and Sussex NHS Trust, Redhill.
He has been working as a Consultant Gynaecologist at Ramsay Northdowns Hospital , Caterham and Spire St Anthonys Hospital since 2018. He was appointed as the Lead Gynaecologist at Northdowns Hospital since 2022.
Mr Kar undertook specialist training in Gynaecology & Obstetrics in London. He was trained in reputed institutions like Bart's Health and Leicester Royal Infirmary. He completed his specialist training from London Deanery & was awarded CCT ( Certificate of Completion of Training) in 2013

Mr Kar has significant contribution in the field of education and research. He was the first author for: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Randomised Studies on Effects of Omega-3 Fatty Acids in Prevention of Early Preterm Delivery.

He has been an Examiner for the MRCOG Final Examination at Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologist since 2019. He has been a teacher at MRCOG preparatory courses at Whipps Cross University Hospital, Whittington Hospital and Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists since 2010. He has been a trainer on hysteroscopy procedures at Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologist / British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy since 2012.
