About me

Mr Sumit Kar is a Consultant Gynaecologist at Ramsay’s Northdowns Hospital, Caterham and Spire St Anthony’s Hospital , Cheam. He was appointed as a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist in 2013 at Surrey and Sussex NHS Trust , Redhill .

Mr Kar undertook specialist training in Gynaecology & Obstetrics in London. He was trained in reputed institutions like Bart’s Health and Leicester Royal Infirmary. He completed his specialist training from London Deanery in 2013.

Mr Kar has significant contribution in the field of education and research. He was the first author for: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Randomised Studies on Effects of Omega-3 Fatty Acids in Prevention of Early Preterm Delivery.

He has been an Examiner for the MRCOG Final Examination at Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologist since 2019. He has been a teacher at MRCOG preparatory courses at Whipps Cross University Hospital, Whittington Hospital and Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists since 2010.

Mr Kar’s clinical interests centre on laparoscopy & hysteroscopy procedures, menopause, cervical smears abnormalities and colposcopy. He is trained in management of menorrhagia, uterovaginal prolapse and laparoscopic management of endometriosis and ovarian cysts. He is an accredited Colposcopist with British Society for Colposcopy & Cervical Pathology. He is a trainer on hysteroscopy procedures at Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologist since 2012.
