About me

Mr Barraclough is a vastly experienced Consultant Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Surgeon who cares for patients with the full range of ENT conditions. He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Bristol before completing both his basic and higher surgical training in ENT across the West Midlands. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and is fully registered with the General Medical Council. He has undertaken extensive higher specialist training and now sub?specialises in rhinology and facial plastic surgery. His expertise covers conditions affecting both the inside and outside of the nose, including nasal injuries, sports?related trauma, facial pain, sinusitis, nasal polyps, congestion and allergies.

Mr Barraclough has significant experience in paediatric ENT, having spent several years at Birmingham Children's Hospital managing complex ENT conditions in children. This has provided him with advanced skills in the diagnosis and treatment of specialised paediatric problems. His training also includes further specialist work in the UK, Australia and New Zealand in facial plastic procedures and advanced endoscopic sinus surgery. He has trained with internationally recognised surgeons, including Richard Douglas and Salil Nair in Auckland and Shahz Ahmed at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. He completed the Dunedin ENT Fellowship in New Zealand and subsequently worked as a Consultant in Whangarei.

Alongside his clinical work, Mr Barraclough holds a Master's Degree in Medical Science from Keele University, where his dissertation focused on the role of tonsillectomy for recurrent sore throats in children. His research has been published in major journals, and he has authored more than 25 peer?reviewed papers. He has also been an invited reviewer for Clinical Otolaryngology and BMJ Open. He currently leads the Tracheostomy and Laryngectomy Team (TaLT) and is the Clinical Director for Head and Neck Services in Wolverhampton and serves as the immediate past-president of the Young Consultants in Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery (YCOHNS), a national organisation supporting new ENT consultants. He has also been a Council Member of ENT UK.
