About me
I graduated from Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals in London in 2002 having been awarded a first class degree in Physiology in 1998. I completed my basic surgical training at the Norfolk
and Norwich University and was subsequently awarded a specialist training rotation in the East of England region. The majority of my training has been in tertiary referral teaching hospitals and included a year as a Chief Resident. At the end of my training I have completed a stone surgery fellowship to Kathmandu, Nepal.
I am a Consultant Urological Surgeon at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
My main interests are the diagnosis and treatment of urinary stone disease, prostate disorders
and laparoscopic kidney surgery, whilst continuing a keen interest in diagnostic general urology
and general urological surgery including prostate cancer diagnosis, and endoscopic (telescopic)
surgery for diseases such as bladder cancer or conditions causing urinary difficulties.
I am an experienced kidney stone and prostate surgeon and am able to offer patients minimally
invasive treatments for kidney stones including laser, lithotripsy and percutaneous stone surgery
(PCNL). I am also very interested in why people form kidney stones and identifying how patients
can reduce their risk of stone formation in the future.
I perform laser prostate procedures (HOLEP) as well as the minimally invasive prostatic urethral
lift procedure (Urolift) in addition to traditional prostate procedures (TURP).
I have a strong commitment to Urological training. I am an Honorary Lecturer at UEA and
regularly teach on national and international stone surgery courses. I have a keen research
interest in stone disease and am actively involved in the presentation and publication of UK stone surgery outcome data.
I am married with two lovely daughters, a Labrador and 2 Guinea pigs. I enjoy my spare time outside of medicine still playing some evening cricket, sailing, standup paddle boarding, rural sports and conservation.
Areas of interest
Laser prostate surgery (Holmium laser enucleation of the prostate), prostatic urethral implants (Urolift), Kidney stone disease, kidney stone prevention, Minimally invasive kidney stone procedures.
