About me

Kumar is a specialist foot and ankle orthopaedic surgeon who is double fellowship trained in Australia with minimally invasive bunion surgery and London with trauma surgery including minimally invasive Achilles tendon surgery.

He is married with three children with whom he tries to make the most of any time outside work. He played university rugby and hockey to first team level and still plays club hockey when family time allows and coaches his kids rugby. His passion for sport nurtured his qualification in Sports Medicine after completing his Medical and Orthopaedic training. Mr Kunasingam teaches internationally on keyhole foot and ankle surgery both trauma and elective and has published research on keyhole bunion surgery.

Medical and Surgical training -

Mr Kunasingam is one of Britains leading keyhole/minimally invasive bunion surgeons. He graduated in medicine from Guys and St Thomas’ Hospital with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery and Bachelor of Science in Experimental Pathology and Genetics.

On completing his house officer training in Kent he taught anatomy under Professor Harold Ellis at Guys, Kings and St Thomas in London. He completed his basic surgical training in Sussex attaining his Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons England.

He was subsequently selected for specialist registrar training in the London deanery and South East Thames attaining his Diploma in Orthopaedics from the University of Brighton and his Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons England.

Specialist training -

Mr Kunasingam underwent specialist foot and ankle fellowship training at several centres in Sydney Australia which included the treatment of elite athletes and minimally invasive surgery - keyhole bunion surgery techniques. On return to the UK he did a second fellowship in trauma surgery at the Kings College London major trauma centre.

Mr Kunasingam set up and now leads the foot and ankle unit at Croydon University Hospital. His practice covers all aspects of foot and ankle surgery striving for excellence using evidence based methods. He is an exponent of minimally invasive surgery - keyhole surgery allowing the majority of his cases to be performed as day case procedures. Kumar strongly believes communication is the key to successful treatment and believes in involving them in this experience.

Teaching -

Kumar teaches keyhole bunion and keyhole/less invasive trauma surgery internationally and believes this type of surgery is the future in helping patients with rapid recovery foot and ankle surgery.

Practice -

Mr Kunasingam sees all foot and ankle conditions it sites covering in London, Surrey and Kent.
