About me

I started as a Consultant Ophthalmologist for glaucoma at Yeovil District Hospital in 2014. Prior to this, I completed a Glaucoma and A&E fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital in 2012, following which I was a research and clinical fellow in Guys and St Thomas Hospitals NHS Trust London while continuing to be an honorary glaucoma fellow with Moorfields Eye hospital. I went on to work as a Locum Consultant in Glaucoma at Kings College Hospital NHS foundation trust, London until April 2014 .

Before moving to the UK in 2007, I worked in India as an ophthalmologist in various settings. I completed my postgraduate training in Ophthalmology and qualified with MS (Master of Surgery) in ophthalmology and went on to complete an advanced training in Phacoemulsification. I started developing her training in Glaucoma with a fellowship in glaucoma at Mainz, Germany, through the International Council of Ophthalmology and a further fellowship in glaucoma at LV Prasad Eye Institute in India in 2004.
I was involved in Charitable work in India, independently and in association with various organisations like Rotary International, Lion’s International, Lifeline Express (Impact Foundation) and a few private charitable organisations like Chinmaya Mission.
With my husband, also an Ophthalmologist, I organised and held about 12 highly successful and rewarding charitable camps over the years that I was in India..
During the course of my career, I have undertaken several courses for teaching and training and has taught in several settings, including teaching programmes for junior residents and undergraduate medical students, phacoemulsification to beginners for the Alcon Phacoemulsification training programme in India, and continues over the years to actively participate in local teaching programmes in the NHS setting including teaching for medical students, Ophthalmology trainees, Nurse practitioners, Optometrists , Orthoptists and Health care assistants.

I continue my interest in training at Yeovil district hospital with training local optometrists in Virtual glaucoma screening clinics, shared care Glaucoma clinics, post operative cataract clinics and IP training for Optometrists. I am currently involved in service development at YDH having reorganised the glaucoma set up with advances in investigations and treatment available locally.
