About me
Mr Jawad Ahmad is an internationally recognised consultant surgeon with over 25 years of experience in liver, pancreas, gallbladder, bile duct and hernia surgery. He is one of the UK's leading specialists in robotic and laparoscopic (keyhole) hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, offering patients advanced treatments with faster recovery, less pain and excellent outcomes.
Mr Ahmad has been a Consultant Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic (HPB) Surgeon at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire since 2015, where he pioneered robotic HPB surgery in 2018. He was the first UK Robotic HPB Proctor and has since trained over 100 consultant surgeons from the UK and Europe. He has also helped establish 17 out of 23 robotic HPB centres across England, making him one of the most influential figures in the field.
Recognised globally for his innovation and expertise, Mr Ahmad was honoured as the father of robotic HPB surgery in the UK at the 2025 International Robotic HPB Conference. He regularly lectures around the world and continues to lead advances in robotic and minimally invasive cancer surgery.
His surgical outcomes are better than the national average as published in the National HES database, and his patients benefit from personalised and compassionate care tailored to their individual needs.
In addition to his clinical work, Mr Ahmad is a Sub-Editor of the Journal of Robotic Surgery, an Associate Professor at the University of Warwick and a Fellowship Examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons. He has published extensively and continues to contribute to groundbreaking research in early cancer detection and bile duct injury prevention.
Mr Ahmad is happy to see both insured and NHS-referred patients from across the UK. If you are not privately insured, you can still be referred to him on the NHS by asking your GP or consultant for a named referral.
