About me
Mr Cohen qualified from The Royal London Hospital in 1982, and trained in orthopaedic surgery in London and then in Cambridge. He completed his MD thesis on The Remodelling of Bone in Response to Prosthetic Implants in 1994 and then spent a year on a Sports Medicine Fellowship at a specialist orthopaedic sports clinic in Australia learning advanced arthroscopic techniques.
On his return to the UK, Mr Cohen was appointed Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at University College London NHS Trust (UCLH) and Honorary Senior Lecturer at The University of London in 1996. In 1997 he was awarded the prestigious European Travelling Fellowship for the European Shoulder and Elbow Society. He was Clinical Director of Musculoskeletal Services at UCLH between 2000 and 2002.
In 2004 he left the NHS and now works solely in private practice. He is a founding partner of the London Orthopaedic Clinic which is currently based at Mayo Clinic Healthcare.
Mr Cohen specialises in injuries and chronic conditions relating to the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand. These include treatment of arthritis, joint replacements, all upper limb fractures, arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, shoulder stabilisation following dislocation, and arthroscopic subacromial decompression. He assesses and treats injuries associated with a variety of sports, including skiing, snowboarding, racket sports, rugby and golf.
Mr Cohen also treats nerve and common tendon conditions including carpal and cubital tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow and frozen shoulder as well as a wide range of problems such as trigger finger and arthritis of the basal joint of the thumb using a range of both conservative measures in addition to surgery.
He is an Honorary Orthopaedic Surgeon to the London Philharmonic Orchestra on a pro bono basis and lectures to clinicians, GPs and physiotherapist groups on a regular basis.
