About me

Having graduated in Cairo in 1991, I did my orthopaedic training for eight years at Ain Shams University in Cairo where the main focus was on spinal surgery and I finished a doctorate thesis on spinal deformities in 2000. I was an Associate Professor in Trauma and Orthopaedics before coming to the UK in 2002. I continued to develop further experience in all aspects in orthopaedics in UK since 2002. I have completed a period of two and half years of post-CCT advanced training fellowships in spinal surgery at James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough and at the Royal Derby Hospital covering both the orthopaedic and neurosurgical aspects of the subspecialty.

During my years of practice I have developed wide expertise in the modern techniques in spinal surgery including microdiscectomies, non destabilising spinal decompression, spinal fusion using interbody cages and pedicle screws. I am also competent in performing mini access surgery including balloon kyphoplasty and spinal fixation for fractures.
