About me

Ms. Julie Kohls: Specialist Foot & Ankle Orthopaedic Surgeon

Ms. Julie Kohls is a highly experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon dedicated to improving the lives of patients with foot and ankle conditions. Based at the Royal Surrey County Hospital since 2007, she has been welcoming private patients since 2010.

A Patient-Centred Approach to Foot & Ankle Care

Julie is passionate about helping individuals understand and manage their foot and ankle problems. She sees a wide spectrum of conditions, from common issues to the most complex cases. Her approach always prioritises a thorough assessment to determine the best course of action, which often includes non-surgical treatments like physiotherapy and orthotics.

When surgery is necessary, Julie is committed to using the most advanced and recognised techniques. She is proficient in minimally invasive procedures, including keyhole surgery and MICA surgery, which can often lead to quicker recovery times and less discomfort for patients. She believes in empowering patients with knowledge, and to this end, she has developed a comprehensive website, www.footforwardclinic.co.uk, to help patients prepare and plan for their surgery.

Extensive Training and Expertise

Julie's journey in orthopaedic surgery began in Canada, followed by extensive training in the United Kingdom. In 2007, she achieved the prestigious qualification of Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS (Tr & Orth)). Her subspecialty training in Foot and Ankle Surgery included two dedicated six-month rotations at the renowned Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore, complemented by a year as the Surrey Foot and Ankle Fellow at both the Royal Surrey County Hospital and Frimley Park Hospital.

Leadership and Contribution to the Field

Beyond her clinical practice, Julie is a respected figure in the orthopaedic community. She is frequently invited to lecture and teach at National Foot Surgery Courses and Ankle Arthroscopy Courses, sharing her expertise with other surgeons. Her commitment to advancing knowledge is further demonstrated through her national presentations and publications of Foot and Ankle research.

Ms. Kohls is dedicated to providing compassionate and effective care, ensuring her patients receive the best possible outcomes for their foot and ankle health.
