About me
Mr Andrew R Davies
Qualifications: BSc, MBChB, MSc, MD, FRCS
Andrew Davies graduated from Edinburgh University and subsequently undertook his higher surgical training in the South East London region. This included time spent at King’s College, the Royal Marsden and St Thomas’ hospitals. During his training he was awarded two prestigious laparoscopic surgery fellowships to UPMC, Pittsburg, USA and Unitas MC, Pretoria, SA.
He is currently a consultant Upper GI surgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, specialising in general and oesophago-gastric surgery. The unit is a tertiary referral centre for oesophageal and gastric cancer as well as complex benign disorders.
He has expertise in oesophago-gastric cancer, advanced laparoscopic surgery including hiatus hernia repair (anti-reflux surgery), cadiomyotomy and GIST resection as well as diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. In addition he performs a wide range of general surgical procedures including cholecystectomy, hernia repair (open & laparoscopic) and skin lumps and bumps.
He has a strong academic background with a first class honours BSc, a Masters with distinction and an MD in the staging and management of oesophageal cancer. He has ongoing research links with King’s College London as well as the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. He regularly review articles for a number of leading scientific journals and has been an invited speaker at national and international meetings.
