About me
I am a Consultant Gastroenterologist practicing at Circle Bath and BMI Bath Clinic.
I was appointed as a Consultant Physician and Gastroenterologist in 2010 and have a full time NHS contract at the Royal United Hospital, Bath where I am the Clinical Lead for Gastroenterology.
I Am Clinical Lead for Endoscopy at Circle Bath Hospital which has recently become JAG accredited. This accreditation shows that the Endoscopy unit has the highest standards in staff training, patient treatment and management.
I trained at Southampton University Medical School between 1993 and 1998. Following house jobs, I worked at a number of hospitals within Wessex before specializing in Gastroenterology. I spent 3 years as a research fellow at the University of Bath understanding the molecular mechanisms of Barrett's oesophagus, oesophageal cancer and other gastrointestinal cancers and was awarded a Ph.D in 2009 for this work.
I have a specialist interest in:
1 Heartburn ( Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease)
2 Inflammatory Bowel Disease - Crohn's disease and Ulcerative Colitis
3 Endoscopy - gastroscopy and colonoscopy
4 Gastrointestinal cancers
5 Barrett's Oesophagus
6 Gall stones, biliary disease and endoscopic treatment
7 Iron deficiency anaemia
8 Unexplained pain and diarrhoea.
