About me

Stephen Veitch is a highly experienced consultant orthopaedic surgeon based in the UK and is renowned for his expertise in hip and knee surgery.
With a consultant career of over 15 years, Mr Veitch has built a reputation for clinical excellence with a patient centred approach. His clinical practice is based in Salisbury but he sees patients from all parts of the country as well as overseas.
Mr Veitch is particularly recognised for his expertise in joint replacement surgery often being referred complex cases and cases requiring surgery in problematic joints previously replaced.
Mr Veitch aims to ensure his patients receive a comprehensive assessment, that his findings are clearly explained and that any decisions regarding treatment options are thoroughly discussed with his patients.
His conscientious approach and attention to detail has earned him the trust of patients and health professionals. Mr Veitch also offers a number of other treatments such as injections and keyhole surgery of the knee (arthroscopy).
Mr Veitch uses established surgical implants that have an excellent track record of success spanning many years. The choice of implants and materials is customised to the needs of the patient to ensure optimum restoration of function and long-term survivorship of the implant. From the national joint registry Mr Veitch has performed 3000 joint replacements, with over 200 each year having low rates of complications and excellent functional outcome scores.
Having received high quality training in the UK and visits to surgeons in USA and Norway, Mr Veitch continues to support the next generation of surgeons by training surgeons on the Wessex rotation. His work includes appraising consultants and supporting newly appointed consultants. He works alongside an excellent group of colleagues in a friendly unit ensuring standards remain high and best practice is implemented.
He has published a number of research articles and has presented his work at national and international meetings. He maintains a high standard of practice and keeps up to date with the latest developments in hip and knee surgery.
