About me
I am a Consultant Medical Oncologist and Head of the Gastrointestinal and the Lymphoma Units at The Royal Marsden Hospital. Although my passion is patient care and treatment, throughout my career I have been involved in cancer research which means that I am able to provide state of the art care and advice.
I have been Director of Clinical Research for The Royal Marsden and The Institute of Cancer Research and Director of the National Institute of Health Research Biomedical Research Centre at The Royal Marsden Hospital and The Institute of Cancer Research.
I have more than 600 publications in the field of cancer research, running a large group at The Royal Marsden Hospital involved in translational research and clinical trials. I have also sat on the committees of many international organisations such as the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the European Society of Medical Oncology. I have a keen interest in medical education and have been Chairman of the Specialist Advisory Committee in Medical Oncology for the Royal College of Physicians I provided leadership in the national training of consultant medical oncologists. I have also been a visiting Professor at Harvard University.
