About me

Mr Bansal is a Senior Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon with NHS base at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust UHCW. He is available for private consultation and surgery at BMI Meriden Hospital, Coventry and Spire Parkway hospital, Solihull.

He has expertise in modern Cataract Surgery, Glaucoma Surgery & Laser treatments.

He has been in field of ophthalmology for more than 25 years. He obtained specialist training, including higher training in Cataract and Glaucoma surgery from Oxford, Birmingham, and Manchester. Prior to this he obtained his graduation and postgraduation, with MD in Ophthalmology, from Indias most prestigious institute, All India Institute of Medical Sciences.

Mr Bansal has a special interest in cataract surgery and has been the departmental lead for Cataract surgery at UHCW for past many years. He provides a specialised service with micro-incision, no sutures and an option of no-injection anaesthesia. He specialises in diagnosis and management of glaucoma and offers advanced Laser treatments and minimally invasive surgical techniques MIGS. He also deals with a full range of general ophthalmology conditions.

He has a keen interest in research, is principal investigator for multicentre trials for glaucoma, and is author of numerous indexed peer reviewed publications, an MD thesis and chapters in a book on cataract surgery in difficult situations. He has regularly presents at international and national meetings on Glaucoma and Cataract, has been an invited speaker and faculty in National and International meetings and has chaired instruction courses.

With an active interest in teaching education he has been the regional Quality Lead for Postgraduate Education and Royal College of Ophthalmologist Tutor. He is a faculty for Warwick Medical School students.

He believes in providing a patient centred care customised to patients conditions, and respects their choice.
