About me

Mr Shahram Kashani is a UK trained ophthalmic surgeon. He has held a substantive consultant position at East Sussex NHS Trust since 2011. He is currently the clinical lead for Ophthalmology and is responsible for day to day running of the ophthalmology department in Eastbourne, Bexhill and Conquest. His ophthalmic training was based in various district general and teaching hospitals in London including Kings College Hospital, Charing Cross Hospital, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and he spent the last few years of his training at the world renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital where he was selected for advanced subspecialty training in management of retinal disorders.

He graduated from St Georges Hospital Medical School in London in 1998. After completing pre registration house jobs, he completed a 2 year Medical rotation achieving the prestigious membership status of the Royal College of Physicians. He is a fellow of the Royal college of Ophthalmologist of United Kingdom and is on the specialist register with the General Medical Council.

His special interest is high volume topical cataract surgery, complex cataract surgery and premium lens implant. His subspecialty training was in management of challenging retinal disorders and ocular inflammation.

He enjoys teaching and is the educational supervisor and college tutor at East Sussex NHS Trust. He is also on curriculum subcommittee at Royal College of Ophthalmologists.

He is married to Ellie and has 2 little girls which keeps him busy enough but likes attending theatre and musicals.
