About me

I studied in Dundee before undertaking clinical training and research in Glasgow and Oxford. I look after general gastroenterology including patients with upper and lower GI problems such as dyspepsia, iron deficiency anaemia, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and rectal bleeding. I perform endoscopic procedures such as gastroscopy, sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy.

I have a strong subspecialist interest in the diagnosis and management Inflammatory Bowel Disease (which includes Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis and microscopic colitis). I spent 5 years developing my clinical and research interests in Inflammatory Bowel Disease at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, prior to starting work as a Consultant Gastroenterologist and clinical lead for IBD services at Southampton General Hospital in 2009. I am clinical lead for the UK IBD Registry, have contributed to the UK IBD Standards and am a member of the UK IBD program.
