About me
Mr Ian Smith offers a full range of plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery including head and neck surgery, skin cancer and sarcoma surgery, treatment for lumps and bumps, and reconstruction following cancer.
He sees children from birth for consultations, and surgery can be performed from the age of two years. Both the Nuffield and Spire hospitals house their own paediatric units, with a dedicated team of specialist children’s nurses, and work closely with Leeds Children’s Hospital based consultant paediatric anaesthetists.
Mr Smith is the Lead Clinician for Sarcoma at Leeds Teaching Hospitals, and is also Lead Clinician for Plastic Surgery. Carrying out all aspects of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, he specialises in oncological surgery and reconstruction, including complex sarcoma surgery. He is a member of the British Association of Plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS) and is on the Specialist Register of the General Medical Council.
Training; Part of his plastic surgery training took place in Leeds and the Yorkshire region, and he undertook two Fellowships in Australia - a year in the internationally acclaimed Australian Craniofacial Unit in Adelaide and a year in the Royal Brisbane Hospital, Queensland. Here he gained advanced training in Head and Neck surgery and complex skin cancers.
